International Youth Day ‘19: Brain Builders International to Host High Level Sustainable Education and Skills Development Dialogue in Kwara, Reveals Date and Theme

Brain Builders International (BBI) - a youth focused not-for-profit and non-governmental organisation - is set to host the 4th edition of its yearly signature event in Ilorin, Kwara state, on Thursday, 15th August 2019.

The organisation, which is reputable for championing projects aimed at promoting Civic Engagement and Active Participation in Governance and Leadership, Climate Change and Environmental Issues, Youth Entrepreneurship, Education and Empowerment, Community Development Services, Human Rights, and Girl-child Advocacy, is set to convene actors from different walks of life to discuss a topic of national interest.

BBI’s International Youth Day summit springs from the conventional and applauded practise of the the United Nations’to celebrate the relentlessness of well-meaning youth in the struggle for a better world. Thus, marking out August 12 as the International Youth Day. It is important to note that while this day brings youth around the world together, it is targeted at ensuring that they reflect on the challenges posing threats to their respective countries and continents which, if done on the large scale, would translate into a safer world, as all hands would be on deck.

In a recent statistic of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Nigeria stands gallantly as the country with the highest number of out-of-school children. Incredibly, there are 13.2 million children who are presently not receiving education. Sadly, this same nation carries the excruciating burden of a fat chunk of unskilled and under-skilled youth, a telling reason for our dear nation's stagnated development.

It goes without saying that developed nations around the world have continued to empower and liberate their people, particularly the younger generation, by investing massively in quality and sustainable education and skills acquisition.

Against this backdrop, this year's International Youth Day summit, which is themed“'Transforming Education and Contemporary Skills Sustainably: Who has the Biggest Role to Play?' is strategically aimed at pinpointing the deficits in the nation's education and skills acquisition programmes, policies and practices, while also considering the roles of concerned stakeholders in challenging and rewriting this unpleasant narrative. This auspicious convention will specifically determine the weight of responsibility each key player has to bear in order to achieve concrete results.

We at Brain Builders International believe that a lot has been said about bad and retrogressive leadership in past and present but with little or no change. This is why this year’s summit will be taking another dimension - not the usual talks with no result approach. Groups, officials, and panelists will be be saddled with the responsibility of finding lasting solutions to many of the problems that bedevil the educational sector, while sharing their thought-provoking answers with participants. It is after these thought processes that actionable solutions would be documented and submitted to appropriate quarters for implementation.

Over the years, BBI’s International Youth Day summit has attracted distinguished persons with ranks to deliberate on some of the most challenging issues posing threats to the development and growth of our nation. At this juncture, it would be necessary to say that delegates at this year’s summit would be thrilled by what we have in stock!

It should be noted that the selection of delegates for the summit usually comes with a lot of efforts due to the avalanche of applications we receive each year from within and outside Nigeria. It is on this note that we urge interested candidates to submit their applications as early as possible because selection is made on rolling basis. Registration has commenced and will round up on Wednesday, 31st July 2019.
