Manchester United are said to be preparing a first official offer for Sporting midfielder Bruno Fernandes.
The Portuguese international looks certain to leave the club this summer after a record-breaking season with some of Europe's top clubs lining up to sign him.
At the front of that queue appear to be United who are willing to pay whatever it takes to get the 24-year-old on board.

Record report that Fernandes' agent has met with United and that a formal offer to his client and Sporting is expected imminently.

Fernandes could be on his way but Declan Rice appears to be staying firmly put.
The England international is on the radar of a number of Premier League clubs after an impressive breakout season at West Ham.
However, the Hammers have moved to end any speculation around one of their star men telling Sky Sports that he's not for sale at any price.
Manchester City are also said to have made an initial enquiry.

Elsewhere, Paul Pogba has apparently told United he wants to move back to Juventus over a move to Real Madrid.
The 26-year-old on Sunday finally made his desire to leave Old Trafford clear, stating that it’s time for a “new challenge”, but many sources say he’s for a long time been “desperate to leave”.
Zinedine Zidane wants Pogba at any price, but the Bernabeu hierarchy are not keen to spend more than £110m after a summer that has already seen them break £350m.
Sky Sports say the midfielder wants to return to Juve, with Paris Saint-Germain also keen.
Crystal Palace remain completely unmoving in their valuation of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, meaning United will ultimately have to match if it they are to finally secure the defender.

The Old Trafford have had two bids already knocked back by Palace, because they are well short of the set price of around £70m.
United had initially been hoping to prise the 22-year-old from Selhurst Park for £25m, and then £50m, but Palace have been steadfast in their stance.
They have no need to sell Wan-Bissaka so it will ultimately be up to United to match their valuation.
Meanwhile, West Ham want Anthony Martial in exchange for Issa Diop, if any deal is to be done for the centre-half.
The Old Trafford hierarchy have investigated the possibility of signing the 22-year-old, but West Ham have so far shown no willingness to sell.
In initial talks, however, the London club have indicated that they may be willing to do business if Martial comes the other way.
United are keen to reshape their midfield and could apparently be significant players for Real Betis star Giovani Lo Celso.
Tottenham are very keen on the Argentine international but reports in Spain suggest that Daniel Levy has baulked at the club's £65m asking price leaving the way clear for United.
Atletico Madrid are also interested but the claims state United are "best placed" to get their man.

Could United lose one of their top targets to bitter rivals Liverpool?
Reports in Italy suggest that Napoli's Kalidou Koulibaly could be that man with suggestions that contact has been made between the Reds and a player valued in the region of £100m.
Meanwhile, Romelu Lukaku's move to Inter Milan hinges on Mauro Icardi leaving.
That's according to the Daily Telegraph who say new boss Antonio Conte is attempting a significant shake-up of his forward line.
