REVEALED The Premier League clubs with the most ‘fake followers’ – from lowest to highest
Everyone hates plastic fans, the Johnny-come-latelies, who don’t know the players names or the chants but are there for the glory.
They’re not restricted to real life either with all Premier League clubs have fake followers on Twitter.
Luckily, there are some super sleuths out there looking to shine a light on injustice and out those clubs who don’t have an authentic fanbase online.
Livefootballtickets conducted and experiment where they inserted the Twitter handle of each team into the Fake Followers Audit tool on SparkToro to find out who had the most.
This tool defines ‘fake followers’ as accounts that are unreachable because they’re spam, bots, and propaganda, or because they’re no longer active on Twitter, while an audit is a random sample of 2,000 accounts looked at with 25+ factor correlated with spam/bot/low quality activity.
