N’GOLO KANTE'S NEXT TARGET AND WHAT NEEDS WORKING ON
Chelsea’s France international midfielder is switching his focus to the fight for top-four…
N’Golo Kante was part of the Chelsea side which overcame Slavia Prague in a lively second leg at Stamford Bridge on Thursday night but before the semi-final begins against Eintracht Frankfurt, there are two Premier League fixtures to negotiate and our France international midfielder is switching his attention solely to those.
There is next-to-no margin for error if we want to qualify for next season’s Champions League through our Premier League position and first up it is Burnley on Monday night. Although the Blues are favourites to beat the Clarets in that home game, Kante was part of the side that slipped up in the equivalent fixture last season so will be taking nothing for granted. Then next weekend comes a crucial visit to Old Trafford before the Europa League resumes.
‘Winning the Europa League is one target for the club, and for us, and it is what we are going to try to do,’ said Kante. ‘We are three games away from winning that title, but we must first go for fourth place.’

The most recent points dropped in the Premier League were the result of goals conceded early in the second half at Liverpool, and it was a similar problem that let Slavia Prague back into the contest on Thursday when Chelsea looked to be cruising to a big win.
‘It's just something that has happened many times this season and something we need to manage a bit better. We still have to work on that,’ acknowledged Kante.
‘It was a good feeling at the beginning of the game [against Slavia] to score three goals but we knew they were a good team with good fighting spirit because it was what we felt away in the first game.
‘It was important to win and to qualify. We did the job, we are happy for the win, but the second half was a little bit difficult. They scored two beautiful goals but we go through and that is the most important.
‘We'll go into the semi-final with confidence and we hope to qualify for the final.’
