3 Policemen Detained For ‘Stealing’ Designer Suits, Fridges, Others In Jonathan’s House
The police authorities in Abuja have detained three of its personnel following the reported theft of household items at the former residence of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan in Gwarimpa Estate, Abuja.
It is understood that the suspects – accused of the theft – were posted to guard the house.
A statement issued on Monday by Anjuguri Manzah, the police spokesperson, quoted the federal capital territory police command as saying that an investigation into the matter had commenced.
Also lending voice on the matter, a top source said that the policemen had admitted to selling some of the items which they allegedly stole from the house.
The source, who pleaded anonymity, identified items allegedly stolen by the policemen to include expensive furniture, television sets, refrigerators, split air conditioners, bowler hats, designer suits and some Ijaw attire.
“The investigation into the theft is almost concluded and it is certain that the policemen involved in the case would be eased out of the service for gross misconduct. How can they steal what they were meant to protect?” the source asked.
