Report On The Meeting Between The Students And The Management

The chairman of Joint Campus Committee ; comrade Ohamara Victor has released a report of their meeting with the management. Read below

A Press Statement on the Say No to 10,000 naira Late Reg Fee.

All thanks to Almighty God for his mercies endureth forever.
Our people do say that “He who Fights and leaves today, lives to Fight another day.”
It is in lieu of this I humbly and dutifully right to inform the Generality of Students on our WIN, WIN (zero Sum) Struggle on the issue of portal closure, its reopening, and the payment of late Registration Fee.

The Struggle was been embarked upon on the early wakes of 6th December 2016 when we learnt that our portal has been Closed and a fee payment of 10k was been required to help future payee btwn the 2 weeks space of late registration fee requirements help complete their registration.

At the conclusion of this process on the 24th December 2016, about 39% of Students had paid their fee, also recording 10% of this population to have paid fee. (A soft Copy of the Campus by Campus analysis was made available by the. I.C.T Department )
Presenting this fact, we where made to know that as of when registration commenced even as of yesterday, some colleagues had Started payment as the  Statics of payment now Runs to about 58% of students.

The fact of Some students owing up to 5 semester late registration fee and outstanding payment where facts not alien to us and were brought forward.

Also, series of rumors which some saboteurs of the struggle made trending  online e.g Rumor on Increments of tuition fee payable, Late Registration fee being applicable to Fresher’s, The # Bring back our Alamu and No to labode Popoola admist many others rumors by some elements, made us look like Sponsored Thieves and bigots who where working for some master.

Nevertheless, in the face of all this embarrassing Facts, we stood our grounds Vehemently and also stated our displeasure about the portal early Closure and the Late registration fee, including payments for services made like; I.C.T fee,  Games fee, and many other Services which weren’t rendered.

After hours of heated arguments and deliberation, the Management and Student bodies had to shift grounds  to accommodate a Zero Sum Negotiation, I.e a 50/50% win for the two Parties.

A joint Communiqué was being released to this effect by the Management and Student body with the Director of DSS acting as a witness and mediator in all these processes.

An excerpt of the communiqué states the

*Exemption of Students who paid their fees before 5th of December 2016 but couldn’t register, from the payment of the 10k penalty as against the previous Standing order.

* A shift in portal Closure From 24th to 28th February 2017 to accommodate more Students.

* A retrogressive leave of absence to all who couldn’t meet up with the payment before 28th February so that such a person G.P and studentship wouldn’t be terminated as Defaulters wouldn’t be allowed into the examination hall.

* Defaulters of previous payment (backlog fee) can now make payment and register for this Semester so se to enable Such Students write the Examination nevertheless, such a student wouldn’t be able to Graduated and make clearance if he still owes outstanding.

* Exemption of Students and departments who had genuine cases of portal malfunctions ranging from portal not uploading the accurate Course Profile due to changes in curriculum, and other issues. Such Student can forward a later through the Departmental H.O.D’s carrying his or her Faculty or departmental President along

N.B :Late Registration only applies to people who made payments after the portal was shut down.
These and some others where the agreement released as copies of the Communiqué who be subsequently released to all Faculty Presidents and Campus leadership So that it’s dictates could be adequately and efficiently conveyed so as to disallow rooms for misconceptions.

However, Faculty President are however advised and enjoined
